The Artist’s Statement reads:
For this project, my professor requested that I shoot a second self-portrait. Fresh out of ideas, I decided to plan something inspired by a photo I found on Pinterest. I enjoy coming up with ideas and themes, and working towards executing them with my own interpretation. I have always been interested in how emotion is created in art through shadow, light, and set dressing. I am most proud that this photo demonstrates a confident person, but through lack of clothing or excessive jewelry or makeup, still embodies intimacy.
With help from Matt, a TA, I was able to nail the technical aspects of this photo, and then focus on excluding my personality on film. It was a challenge and technique I’d never attempted before, and would not have accomplished alone. Aside from Matt, three other classmates posed for me, held additional lighting props, or helped take the physical photo.
